Biography
Zulfiqur is Professor and Director of Healthcare Innovation Partnerships at Teesside University. He has responsibility for the Healthcare Innovation Centre (HIC) - a collaboration between Teesside University and TWI Ltd - and the Tees Healthcare Innovation Partnership with South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. His research is focussed on microfluidics for point-of-care diagnostic devices and for complex chemical and biological processing on a chip. This work includes electrochemical and optical transducer development. Zulfiqur is on the Editorial Board for Micro and Nanosystems from Bentham Science Publishers and has coordinated a number of European Commission projects. He is currently leading the Teesside University activity in the Horizon 2020 GateOne project on smart system integration for SMEs. Zulfiqur is also director of Anasyst Ltd which is commercialising a highly sensitive absorption spectrometer for a variety of applications including DNA/protein measurements and immunoassay.
