Biography
Associate Professor Dr. Hairul is a lecturer and chairman of Exercise and Sports Science programme, School of Health Sciences, University Sains Malaysia. He has a PhD from the University of Western Australia in Sports & Exercise psychology. His areas of research interest include the use of psychoâ€behavioral techniques in sports performance and health enhancement, particularly progressive muscle relaxation. He also has a deep interest in psychometric development and validation. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hairul has published over 80 publications in various formats internationally as well as locally. He is a regular columnist in Mingguan Malaysia – Bersama Psikologis column where he addresses issues related to emotional and mental health from various aspects. Besides teaching, supervising and researching, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hairul is a regular consultant of private and governmental agencies such as National Sports Council which he actively contributes as a coaching certification instructor and a panel member in the national coaching certification and education.
